Zain Malik (born Zain Javadd Malik, 12.01.1993) Zayn Malik is a singer in the band One Direction.
Childhood: Zain was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. His parents Yaser and Tricia are of British Pakistani nationality. He grew up in East Bowling and attended Lower Fields Primary School and later Tong High School where he struggled to fit in due to his heritage.
Musical career: Malik auditioned for 'The X Factor' in 2010 as a solo artist but was put in a band with Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson after none of them made it to Judges Houses. They soon decided on the name One Direction. The band came third on the show but were still signed to Simon Cowell's Syco Records after he mentored them. They have won two BRIT awards, three Teen Choice awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. They have even managed to break a Guinness World Record when they became the first British band to debut their first album at number one in the US charts.

Personal life: Zayn is addicted to smoking cigarettes but has mentioned that he would like to quit. He has expressed his Islamic beliefs publicly on Twitter. He is currently dating Little Mix's Perrie Edwards but allegedly cheated on her in early 2013. He has since denied the rumours.
